obtianu is a genus of extinct marine reptiles belonging to the family Pliosauridae, a group of short-necked plesiosaurs. Fossils of obtianu have been discovered in the United Kingdom, specifically from the Kimmeridge Clay Formation of Dorset, which dates back to the Late Jurassic period. This formation is renowned for its rich fossil record of marine life from that era.

The most well-known species is Obtianu grandis. While complete skeletons are rare, the available fossil evidence, primarily consisting of skull fragments and teeth, indicates that obtianu was a formidable predator. Its dentition suggests a diet of fish and other marine animals.
