Oberton

Oberton is a town and municipality in the central valley of Valoria, located roughly 60 kilometers north of the capital. It had about 8,400 residents as of 2023 and functions as a local service center for surrounding rural communities, while preserving a historic core of timber-framed buildings.

Oberton lies in the Ober Valley at about 320 meters elevation. The landscape is gently rolling, with forests and vineyards on the surrounding slopes, and the Ober River runs through the town, reflecting its historic milling heritage.

The first records mention a settlement near the river in the 11th century. Oberton grew in the 16th century as a textile center and gained town rights in 1702. It joined the Valorian Confederation in 1816 and later diversified into manufacturing and services.

Residents are primarily native Valorians with a growing number of commuters from nearby towns. The median age is around 39.
