Oberflächenverrundungen
Oberflächenverrundungen, often translated as surface fillets or radii, refer to the deliberate rounding of edges and corners on manufactured parts. This practice is employed in engineering and design for several critical reasons. Primarily, verrundungen improve the mechanical strength of a component. Sharp corners act as stress concentrators, points where forces tend to gather and where fatigue cracks are most likely to initiate, leading to premature failure. By introducing a radius, these stress concentrations are reduced, distributing the load more evenly across the material and increasing its resistance to fracture and fatigue.
Beyond structural integrity, surface radii enhance safety and handling. Sharp edges can pose a risk of injury
