Oberflächenoffseting
Oberflächenoffseting is a printing technique that transfers ink from a printing plate to a rubber blanket and then to the printing surface. This indirect method is widely used for its ability to produce high-quality images on a variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, and plastic. The process begins with the creation of a printing plate, typically made of metal, which carries the image to be printed. Ink is applied to this plate, adhering only to the non-image areas. The inked plate then rolls against a rubber blanket, transferring the ink onto it. Finally, the blanket presses against the substrate, leaving a sharp and accurate impression of the original image. This offset transfer allows for greater flexibility in handling different surface textures and types, as the soft blanket can conform to irregularities that a direct plate-to-substrate transfer might struggle with. The process is known for its consistency, speed, and the fine detail it can achieve, making it a staple in commercial printing for books, magazines, packaging, and advertising materials.
