Oberflächenlegung refers to the practice of laying electrical cables on the surface of walls or ceilings, as opposed to embedding them within the structure. This method is often employed in situations where retrofitting existing buildings is necessary, or in industrial settings where accessibility for maintenance and modifications is paramount.

The primary advantage of Oberflächenlegung is its simplicity and cost-effectiveness, particularly in renovation projects where cutting into walls would be disruptive and expensive. It allows for relatively quick installation and easy relocation or addition of electrical points.
