OFDMAbased refers to systems or technologies that utilize Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) as their underlying transmission technique. OFDMA is a channel access method used in several wireless communication standards, including Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11ax and later), LTE, and 5G NR. It is a more advanced version of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) that allows multiple users to share the same radio channel more efficiently.

The core principle of OFDMA is to divide the available radio spectrum into a large number of closely spaced orthogonal subcarriers. Unlike OFDM, where a single user occupies all subcarriers during a transmission slot, OFDMA assigns different subsets of these subcarriers to different users simultaneously. This parallel transmission capability significantly improves spectral efficiency and allows for more flexible resource allocation.

In an OFDMA system, the base station or access point dynamically allocates groups of subcarriers, known as Resource Blocks (RBs), to individual users based on their data demands and channel conditions. This granular control enables finer-grained scheduling, reduces interference, and enhances overall system capacity. OFDMA is particularly effective in scenarios with varying user traffic and different quality of service (QoS) requirements, making it a cornerstone of modern high-speed wireless communication.
