O2szintek

O2szintek is a term used to describe the presence and concentration of molecular oxygen (O2) in a given environment. The concept covers several contexts, including atmospheric oxygen levels, dissolved oxygen in liquids, and biological oxygen saturation in organisms.

In the atmosphere, oxygen makes up about 21 percent by volume at sea level, corresponding to a partial pressure of about 21 kilopascals (kPa). In water, oxygen content is expressed as dissolved oxygen (DO), usually measured in milligrams per liter (mg/L) or as percent saturation relative to equilibrium at a given temperature. Typical fresh water at 25°C saturates around 8-9 mg/L, with higher values possible in cold, well-mixed water.

Measurement methods include DO sensors, such as Clark-type electrochemical sensors and optical (luminescent) sensors for liquids, as well as PO2 sensors for air and tissue. For biological oxygen saturation in humans, pulse oximetry and arterial blood gas analysis are used.

Significance: O2szintek influence health, aquatic ecosystems, and industrial processes. Low atmospheric O2 occurs at high altitude; low dissolved oxygen reduces the survival of aquatic organisms. In humans, low oxygen saturation (SpO2) can indicate hypoxemia and impaired oxygen delivery to tissues.
