Nyomómodulus

Nyomómodulus, also known as bulk modulus, is a measure of a substance's resistance to uniform compression. It quantifies how much the volume of a substance changes when subjected to hydrostatic pressure. Mathematically, it is defined as the ratio of the applied pressure to the relative change in volume. A high nyomómodulus indicates that a substance is difficult to compress, meaning its volume changes very little even under significant pressure. Conversely, a low nyomómodulus signifies that the substance is easily compressible.

The formula for nyomómodulus (K) is given by K = -V(dP/dV), where V is the volume and dP/dV represents the change in pressure with respect to the change in volume. The negative sign is included because an increase in pressure leads to a decrease in volume. Nyomómodulus is an important material property in fields such as physics, engineering, and materials science, helping to predict the behavior of materials under stress, particularly in fluid dynamics and solid mechanics. It is an intrinsic property of a material, independent of the shape or size of the sample.
