This system is a vital component of both the circulatory and immune systems. Lymph fluid, a clear to yellowish liquid, originates from blood plasma that seeps out of capillaries into the interstitial spaces between cells. This fluid then collects in lymphatic vessels.

The primary function of nyirokkeringést is to transport this lymph fluid back to the bloodstream. Unlike the circulatory system, which has a central pump (the heart), the lymphatic system relies on a combination of factors to move lymph.
