Nyckelgranskning, often translated as peer review, is a fundamental process in academic and scientific publishing. It involves the evaluation of scholarly work by experts in the same field who have no personal or professional connection to the author. This critical assessment aims to ensure the quality, validity, originality, and significance of research before it is published.

The process typically begins when a researcher submits a manuscript to a journal or conference. The editor then identifies several reviewers who are knowledgeable about the subject matter. These reviewers meticulously examine the manuscript for potential errors in methodology, interpretation of results, and clarity of writing. They also assess whether the research contributes meaningfully to the existing body of knowledge.
