Nurabad
Nurabad is a city in western Iran and the administrative center of Nurabad District within Khuzestan Province. The town had a population of approximately 15,000 residents according to the 2016 national census. Its name, derived from the Persian words "nur" (light) and "abad" (settlement), translates to "city of light." Historically the area lies along ancient trade routes that connected the Elamite, Achaemenid, and later Islamic empires. In modern times, Nurabad has developed primarily as an agricultural hub. Crops such as wheat, barley, and various legumes are cultivated in the surrounding fertile plains. A small industrial zone in the city produces textiles, handicrafts, and light manufacturing goods.
