Persianspeaking refers to people who use Persian as their primary language or a significant medium of everyday communication. Persian is an Iranian language within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European family. The modern Persian language continuum comprises Iranian Persian (commonly called Persian or Farsi in Iran), Dari spoken in Afghanistan, and Tajik spoken in Tajikistan; these varieties are mutually intelligible to a high degree but differ in pronunciation, vocabulary, and scripts.
