Noviport

Noviport is a coastal city and major commercial port located on the eastern coastline of the fictional nation of Veridia. The city sits at the mouth of the Sanari River and is the administrative center of the Veridian metropolitan region. The city proper has a population of approximately 420,000, while the wider metro area is around 1.2 million.

The harbor is natural with deep-water berths, and the city experiences a temperate maritime climate with mild winters and cool summers. Annual rainfall averages about 800 millimeters, and southeasterly winds are common in winter.

The economy is dominated by port activities, including container handling, logistics services, and ship repair. The Noviport Port Complex is complemented by a free trade zone and industrial parks that host manufacturers, logistics firms, and maritime service providers. Tourism and services also contribute to growth.

Noviport was founded in the 16th century as a fishing village and expanded in the 19th century with railway and canal improvements, becoming a major trade hub after postwar modernization. Port expansions in the 1990s and 2000s increased capacity and deepen berths.

The city is administered by a city council elected for four-year terms, with a separate port authority overseeing harbor operations. Public transport includes a bus network and a light rail line connecting the port district with the city center.

Noviport hosts several universities, museums, and theaters, and is known for an annual maritime festival and a diverse culinary scene.
