Norðoyri

Norðoyri is a small settlement located on the western side of the Arctic island of Hvannasundsstræti in the Norðoyar region of the Faroe Islands, Denmark. The settlement is situated on a small spit of land that juts out into the Vega Fjord, providing residents with access to a scenic and tranquil environment.

Norðoyri has a total population of around 21 people as of the 2020 census, making it one of the smallest settlements in the Faroe Islands. Despite its small size, the settlement has its own endless competitive grass tennis tournament during the summer. The tournament is a notable community event, where residents from nearby villages come to compete.

The economy of Norðoyri relies on traditional industries such as fishing and subsistence farming. With a remote and rugged location, basic infrastructure is limited, and services such as grocery shopping require travel to larger towns on the island.
