Northreachs

Northreachs is a northern administrative region in the fictional continent of Eldoria, within the realm of Northwind. It forms the northern edge of the nation and is bordered by the Sea of Sable to the west and the Northreach Range to the south. The regional capital is Frostford, while other notable towns include Ironmere and Gullhaven.

Its landscape comprises rugged coastlines, boreal forests, and glaciated highlands. The Northreach Range dominates the southern border, with several peaks exceeding 2,000 meters. The region contains numerous rivers, notably the Silverrun, which supports hydroelectric power stations. The climate is subarctic to polar, with long winters and short, cool summers.

Archaeological and folkloric sources point to indigenous Northfolk communities in the area for millennia. In the medieval period, Northreachs became a marcher region within Northwind, gaining greater administrative autonomy through a series of accords in the 17th and 18th centuries. The modern regional government was established in the early 1800s and reformed in the late 20th century.

Today Northreachs is governed by a regional council led by a governor appointed by the national government. The council drafts regional legislation on land use, infrastructure, and environmental protection, while a separate civil service administers public services. Local councils are elected in towns and municipalities.

Economy centers on sustainable forestry, fishing, and mining, complemented by hydroelectric energy, tourism, and small manufacturing. The population is roughly 180,000, with the majority identifying as Northfolk. Northreachs languages include Northreachian and Eldorian, with occasional bilingual communities. Cultural life emphasizes winter festivals, mountaineering, and coastal heritage.
