Examples include transvaginal ultrasound, which uses sound waves to create images of the pelvic organs, including the uterus, and endometrial biopsy, where a small sample of the uterine lining is taken for examination under a microscope without inserting a scope.

These nonhysteroscopic approaches are often employed when a less invasive diagnostic method is sufficient, or when hysteroscopy is not indicated or feasible. They can be used to assess uterine abnormalities, investigate causes of abnormal uterine bleeding, or monitor certain gynecological conditions.
