Nodulares

Nodulares is a Spanish-language adjective used in medical contexts to describe lesions or structures characterized by nodules. It is not a disease itself; rather it functions as a descriptor of morphology. In English-language medical writing, the corresponding term is nodular, and the plural form nodulares would appear in Spanish-language texts or cross-language descriptions.

In dermatology, nodular lesions are solid, raised skin lesions typically larger than 1 cm that extend into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue. They can be inflammatory (for example erythema nodosum), infectious, or neoplastic.

In endocrinology and radiology, the term is used in phrases such as nodular goiter or multinodular thyroid goiter. Thyroid nodules are common in adults; most are benign, but evaluation aims to exclude malignancy.

In pulmonology and radiology, pulmonary nodules are discrete round or irregular opacities up to 3 cm in diameter. They are often incidental findings on imaging and require assessment of size, growth rate, calcifications, and patient risk factors to differentiate benign from malignant causes.

In oncology and breast imaging, nodular densities or nodular lesions describe spatially discrete masses within tissue; workup combines imaging features with clinical context and sometimes biopsy.

Classification commonly contrasts nodules with papules (smaller than nodules) and with masses (larger than 3 cm or forming a lump). The term also appears in pathology to describe nodular growth patterns.
