Nivelleringsstænger

Nivelleringsstænger, often translated as leveling bars or leveling rods, are specialized tools used in surveying and construction to establish a precise horizontal or vertical line. They are typically long, rigid rods made of durable materials like aluminum or fiberglass, designed to remain straight and true over their length. The primary function of a nivelleringsstang is to act as a target for a level instrument, such as a spirit level, dumpy level, or digital level.

When performing leveling operations, the nivelleringsstang is held vertically by an assistant at a point where the elevation needs to be determined or set. The surveyor then uses the level instrument to sight across the stang. Markings, often in centimeters or millimeters, are printed on the stang. The surveyor reads the measurement on the stang that aligns with the horizontal line of sight from the level instrument. This reading, combined with the known height of the instrument and the distance to the stang, allows for the calculation of the elevation difference between the instrument's position and the stang's position.

Nivelleringsstænger come in various lengths and designs. Some are telescoping to allow for adjustments in height and portability. They may also feature special accessories like circular bubbles or stadia lines for enhanced accuracy.
