Nitroestergrupperna
Nitroestergrupperna, also known as nitrate esters, are a class of organic compounds characterized by the presence of one or more nitrate ester functional groups (R-O-NO2). In this functional group, a nitro group (NO2) is attached to an oxygen atom, which is in turn bonded to a carbon atom of an organic radical. These compounds are formed through the esterification of an alcohol with nitric acid or a related nitrating agent.
The properties of nitroestergrupperna vary widely depending on the organic structure to which the nitrate ester
Glycerol trinitrate, commonly known as nitroglycerin, is one of the most well-known examples of a nitroester.
