Nimanidir is a fictional archaeological site and religious complex set in the world-building region of Valaran. The site comprises a multi-tier temple complex on a stepped plateau, accompanied by concentric courtyards, a central altar, and a network of subterranean galleries and cisterns. Its layout emphasizes ceremonial flow and solar symbolism, with stone reliefs and inscriptions that reflect a long-running ritual calendar.

Etymology: The name nimanidir derives from the Nimani language, with niman meaning “sun” and idir meaning “path” or “way.” The term is commonly translated as “path of the sun,” a designation that mirrors the site’s solar alignments and rite cycles.

History and archaeology: Construction is dated to roughly 1500–1200 BCE by the Nimanid culture. The complex served as a major ceremonial center and pilgrimage destination for several centuries, undergoing several rebuilding phases after seismic events. It appears to have declined around 600–500 BCE and was abandoned in subsequent centuries. Modern discovery began in the late 19th century, followed by systematic excavations in the early 20th century and ongoing interpretation by scholars in the present.

Architecture and layout: The site covers several hectares and centers on a sun-temple at its core. Surrounding terraces host altars, processional stairs, and relief panels. A network of galleries and water systems underpins the ceremonial program, with walls and thresholds aligned to solsticial and equinoctial events.

Inscriptions and artifacts: Inscriptions in the Nimani script recount religious rites, lineage, and astronomical observations. Artifacts include ceramic vessels, bronze ritual implements, figurines, and carved stone icons that illuminate ceremonial practice and daily life.
