Newsboat

Newsboat is a free, open-source RSS/Atom feed reader for the command line. Written in C++, it runs on Unix-like systems and can be used on Windows via compatibility layers. It uses libcurl to fetch feeds and SQLite to store articles, metadata, and reading state. The text-based interface is powered by ncurses and supports keyboard navigation, tagging, and sorting.

Newsboat is a fork of Newsbeuter, created to continue development after the original project became inactive. It is maintained by an active community and emphasizes simplicity, speed, and extensibility. The project provides regular updates and enhancements while maintaining compatibility with existing Newsbeuter configurations.

Key features include support for RSS and Atom feeds, OPML import/export, per-feed configuration, tag-based organization, filtering and search, and offline reading through local caches.
