Nestekaasujärjestelmät, or LPG systems, refer to the infrastructure and technology used for storing, transporting, and utilizing liquefied petroleum gas as a fuel. LPG is a mixture of propane and butane, which are gases at atmospheric pressure but liquefy under moderate pressure, making them easier to store and transport.

These systems are common in various applications, including residential heating and cooking, especially in areas not connected to natural gas pipelines. They are also widely used as fuel for vehicles (autogas), as a portable energy source for camping and outdoor activities, and in industrial processes.

A typical LPG system consists of a storage tank, which can be a small portable cylinder or a larger stationary tank for a household. From the tank, the liquid LPG flows through a regulator that reduces the pressure to a usable level for appliances or engines. The gas then travels through pipes or hoses to the point of use. Safety is paramount in LPG systems, and they are equipped with various safety features such as pressure relief valves and leak detectors. Regular maintenance and adherence to safety regulations are crucial to prevent accidents. The environmental impact of LPG is generally considered lower than that of traditional fossil fuels, as it burns cleaner and produces fewer emissions.
