Nedcar
Nedcar is a car manufacturing plant in Born, Netherlands. The facility has a long industrial history dating to the DAF cars era and became widely known as a production site for Volvo Cars and Mitsubishi Motors under the Nedcar joint venture. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the plant assembled vehicles for both brands, contributing to the Dutch automotive industry and export economy. In 2012 the facility was acquired by the Dutch engineering group VDL Groep and reorganized as a contract-manufacturing site serving multiple automotive customers. Since then Nedcar has focused on flexible production capabilities, enabling small-batch runs and projects for different brands, including initiatives related to electric-vehicle assembly and components manufacturing. The plant has undergone modernization to improve efficiency, automation, and workforce training, while maintaining its role as a regional employer and exporter. Nedcar's ongoing operations are characterized by collaboration with a range of clients, a diversified production portfolio, and integration with the broader European automotive supply chain. The site’s exact production mix varies with market demand, but it remains a notable example of Dutch automotive manufacturing heritage and its adaptation to a changing industry landscape.
