Nd1

Nd1 is a chess move in standard algebraic notation, indicating that a knight has moved to the square d1 on the board. The letter N denotes a knight, and d1 is a specific square. If two or more knights can legally reach d1 from their current squares, the move is disambiguated by adding the origin file or rank, yielding notations such as Nbd1 or Nfd1. When only one knight can reach d1, the move is simply Nd1.

A move to d1 is commonly used as a retreat to a more defensible or flexible square, or as part of a maneuver to redeploy the knight to a more active square later in the game.
