NbTa
NbTa is a binary alloy of niobium (Nb) and tantalum (Ta). The two refractory metals form a complete solid solution, so the composition can be varied to tailor properties. NbTa alloys are valued for high melting points, good mechanical strength at elevated temperatures, and excellent corrosion resistance, making them suitable for harsh environments.
Structure and composition: The alloy typically remains body-centered cubic; the lattice forms a continuous solid solution
Production: NbTa is produced by melting Nb and Ta under a vacuum or inert atmosphere using methods
Applications: Used for high-temperature components such as furnace parts, chemical processing equipment, heat exchangers, and crucibles.
Notes: Availability and properties depend on the Nb:Ta ratio and processing history. NbTa alloys are not as
