Nasalled

Nasalled is a rarely attested English term used as an adjective or past participle, formed from nasal with an -ed suffix. It is not included in major dictionaries, and its meaning is not standardized. When encountered, nasalled generally signals an informal attempt to describe something associated with nasal emission or nasalization, but it is more often encountered as a misspelling or variant of related forms such as nasalized, nasal, or nasaled.

In linguistic contexts, writers would normally use nasalized or nasalisation to describe a vowel or consonant that carries nasal resonance. The form nasalled is typically found only in noncanonical texts, user-contributed glossaries, or experimental writing, where authors may prefer a simple past participle construction to indicate that nasalization has been applied to something. In other domains—such as biology, medicine, or art—nasalled is not a standard technical term and its interpretation would be ambiguous.

Usage notes: to avoid confusion, authors should favor established terms: nasalized, nasally, nasalization. If nasalled is used, it should be defined on first use. Alternative: describe the feature directly (for example, "a nasalized vowel") rather than relying on a nonstandard adjective.
