Narrenzünfte
Narrenzünfte are traditional carnival associations found primarily in southern Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. These guilds or societies are responsible for organizing and maintaining local carnival customs and traditions. Each Narrenzunft typically has its own unique "Narren" or fool costumes, which are often elaborate and represent specific historical figures, mythical creatures, or local legends. The masks, known as "Larven" or "Masken," are a defining feature, with distinct styles varying greatly from one region to another.
The main purpose of a Narrenzunft is to preserve and pass down the intangible cultural heritage of
