NTAG215

NTAG215 is a contactless smart tag integrated circuit produced by NXP Semiconductors, part of the NTAG family used in NFC (Near Field Communication) applications. It operates in the 13.56 MHz frequency band and follows the ISO/IEC 14443 Type A protocol, enabling it to communicate with a wide range of NFC-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets, and NFC readers.

The tag features 1448 bytes of NDEF (NFC Data Exchange Format) memory, of which 430 bytes are available for user data after accounting for system and status areas. This capacity makes it suitable for applications requiring moderate data storage, such as URL linking, contact sharing, or product authentication. NTAG215 also includes a hardware-based authentication mechanism using a read/write protection key and a user key that can be loaded by the manufacturer or end user, providing a degree of data security.

Designed for industrial durability, NTAG215 supports up to 130 k read/write cycles and tolerates high temperatures, making it appropriate for use in retail, logistics, and IoT deployments. Its small form factor (typically 8 mm × 8 mm × 1.4 mm) allows embedding in stickers, keychains, wristbands, and other accessories. The tag is supported by NXP’s TagWriter app and other third‑party NFC development tools, which simplify provisioning and programming of the memory via familiar mobile interfaces.

NTAG215’s feature set has made it popular in marketing campaigns, ticketing, and asset tracking, where a balance of storage, security, and cost efficiency is required.
