NH3ssa

NH3ssa is a fictional term used in speculative science and worldbuilding to describe an ammonia-derived solid-state material. It does not correspond to a real compound in established chemistry, but is outlined in imagined contexts to illustrate principles of host–guest chemistry and materials design. In the fiction, NH3ssa combines NH3 molecules with a porous host framework designated SSA, short for Solid-State Assembly. The preferred representation is [NH3]n·SSA, with n varying according to pressure, temperature, and the specific SSA morphology.

Composition and structure are described as an inclusion compound in which ammonia molecules occupy nanometer-scale pores within the SSA framework. Interactions between NH3 and the pore walls govern adsorption, retention, and release, enabling tunable gas uptake. The resulting material is typically portrayed as a colorless crystalline solid with reversible adsorption behavior and a stability window defined by the host’s pore chemistry.
