Müügivahetus, a term of Estonian origin, refers to the process of selling and simultaneously buying an asset. This typically occurs in a single transaction, where the proceeds from the sale of one item are directly applied to the purchase of another. This method is commonly employed in situations involving trade-ins, such as when purchasing a new car or an updated electronic device. The seller agrees to accept the buyer's existing item as partial payment for the new item.

The primary advantage of müügivahetus for the buyer is convenience and often a reduced immediate cash outlay. Instead of managing the separate sale of their old item, they can integrate it into the purchase of the new one. For the seller, it can be an attractive selling proposition that encourages immediate purchase and can also help them move inventory of used goods. However, the value offered for the trade-in item may be less than what could be obtained through a private sale.
