Mätäs
Mätäs is a Finnish term that describes a raised mound of earth, typically found in a natural or agricultural setting. These mounds can be formed by a variety of processes, including the accumulation of organic matter, soil erosion and deposition, or the activity of burrowing animals. In a natural context, mätäs can be seen in forests, bogs, and meadows, often supporting distinct plant communities due to variations in drainage and soil composition. For example, on a mätäs in a bog, drier conditions might allow certain shrubs to grow while the surrounding area remains waterlogged.
In agriculture, mätäs refers to a cultivated mound of soil used for planting. This method is often
