Májreparációban refers to the process of liver repair and regeneration. The liver is a remarkable organ with a significant capacity to heal itself after injury. This regenerative ability is crucial for maintaining liver function and overall health.

The liver's repair mechanisms involve a complex interplay of cells and molecular signaling pathways. When the liver is damaged, either by toxins, viruses, or physical trauma, various cell types, including hepatocytes (the main functional cells of the liver) and non-parenchymal cells like Kupffer cells and stellate cells, are activated. These cells contribute to clearing debris, initiating inflammation, and stimulating the proliferation of remaining healthy hepatocytes.

Hepatocytes have a high capacity for cell division, allowing them to replace damaged or lost cells. This process is tightly regulated to prevent uncontrolled growth. Key growth factors and signaling molecules orchestrate this regeneration, ensuring that the new tissue formed is functional and integrated into the existing liver structure.

Factors influencing the extent and success of májreparációban include the severity and duration of the liver injury, the individual's overall health, and the presence of underlying conditions. While the liver can regenerate significantly, chronic or severe damage can overwhelm its repair capacity, leading to fibrosis (scarring) and eventually cirrhosis, a condition where the liver is permanently damaged and its function is impaired.
