Mustafar is a fictional volcanic planet in the Star Wars universe, located in the Outer Rim Territories as part of the Mustafar system. It is best known as a harsh, lava-dominated world where geological activity shapes the landscape and climate, with rivers of molten rock, lava lakes, and frequent eruptions.

Geography and climate: The surface is largely volcanic with magma flows, scorched plains, and geothermal forests in shielded belts. The atmosphere is often thick with volcanic gases, making large swaths of the planet uninhabitable for unprotected life. Settlements and industrial sites exist in engineered niches that manage heat and toxic gases.

Inhabitants and culture: The planet is the homeworld of the Mustafarians, a humanoid species adapted to extreme heat. They construct architecture that withstands high temperatures and operate or inhabit controlled geothermal zones. Mustafar is also the site of industrial facilities and a strong imperial presence in later periods.

Key appearances and significance: Mustafar gained prominence in Star Wars canon as the location of the duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith, after which Anakin becomes Darth Vader. Darth Vader later established a fortress on the planet, featured in visual media and comics.

Appearances beyond films: The planet has appeared in animated series like The Clone Wars and is referenced in other Star Wars media.
