ObiWan

Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas. A Jedi Master and member of the Jedi Order, he mentors Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker and plays a central role across the prequel and original trilogies. The character has been portrayed by Alec Guinness in the original films and by Ewan McGregor in the prequel films and the 2022 live-action series, with additional voice work in animated series.

In The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan is a Padawan to Qui-Gon Jinn; after Qui-Gon’s death, he becomes Anakin Skywalker’s mentor. He and Anakin participate in the Clone Wars, where Obi-Wan earns a reputation for resourcefulness and leadership. He defeats General Grievous and helps to navigate the growing tensions that lead to the fall of the Jedi Order.

After Anakin’s transformation into Darth Vader and the rise of the Galactic Empire, Obi-Wan goes into exile on Tatooine, adopting the name Ben Kenobi and watching over Luke Skywalker. In the original trilogy, he guides Luke from the shadows and ultimately confronts Darth Vader aboard the Death Star, sacrificing himself so Luke and his friends can escape. His spirit later appears as a Force ghost to aid Luke.

Obi-Wan’s legacy includes training Luke Skywalker, shaping Jedi philosophy, and serving as a paradigmatic mentor within the Star Wars saga. He appears across multiple media, including The Clone Wars and Rebels, and the live-action Obi-Wan Kenobi series, illustrating the enduring archetype of the wise guardian.
