Mucolyyttisiä, often referred to as mucolytics, are a class of medications used to help thin and loosen mucus in the airways. This thinning of mucus can make it easier to cough up and clear from the lungs, which is particularly beneficial for individuals with respiratory conditions characterized by excessive or thick mucus production. Conditions such as bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are frequently treated with mucolytic agents.
