Monogamist

Monogamist is a person who adheres to monogamy, typically committed to a single partner at a time in a romantic or marital relationship. The term is often used to describe individuals whose personal or cultural expectations align with exclusive pair bonding, though it may be self-identified or socially assumed.

The word derives from Greek monos meaning "one" and gamos meaning "marriage." In practice, monogamy can be exclusive in sex and romantic affection, or can be used more loosely to indicate lifelong partnership.

Variants: Exclusive monogamy prohibits sexual or romantic ties outside the primary partnership. Serial monogamy refers to a sequence of exclusive relationships, with new partnerships after one ends. Some contexts distinguish between sexual monogamy and emotional/romantic monogamy.
