Monocycloalkanes
Monocycloalkanes are saturated cyclic hydrocarbons containing a single ring of carbon atoms. They are also known as cycloalkanes. The general formula for a monocycloalkane is CnH2n, where n is the number of carbon atoms in the ring. The simplest monocycloalkane is cyclopropane, with three carbon atoms. Other common examples include cyclopentane (five carbon atoms) and cyclohexane (six carbon atoms).
The physical properties of monocycloalkanes, such as boiling point and melting point, are influenced by the
Monocycloalkanes are found in petroleum and natural gas. They are also used as solvents and as intermediates
