Mitteruti
Mitteruti is a term that appears in the folklore of the northern Adriatic region, particularly among the Illyrian communities of modern-day Slovenia and Croatia. The word, derived from the Proto-Baltic root *mɪtʲer, means “bright one” or “small light.” In oral tradition the Mitteruti are described as small, luminous spirits that dwell in stone caves and willow groves. They are usually portrayed as translucent, with bodies that glow in hues of green and gold, and their movements are said to echo the gentle rustle of wind through reeds.
