Mittala

Mittala is a fictional town and commune set in a temperate river valley in the eastern part of the imagined country of Valoria. In this setting, it lies approximately 60 kilometers from the regional capital and sits at an elevation of about 180 meters above sea level.

The town is situated along the Mitta River, with farmland to the south and deciduous forests to the north. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cool, wet winters, suitable for crops such as wheat and fruit.

Mittala developed around a river crossing in the medieval period, grew as an agricultural market town, and experienced modernization in the 19th and 20th centuries. The historic center preserves a few timber-framed houses and a stone bridge.

As of 2020, Mittala has about 3,200 residents. The economy rests on agriculture, local manufacturing, and small services. The river and scenery support small-scale tourism, including guesthouses and craft shops.

Politically, Mittala is a municipal commune governed by a mayor and a twelve-member council within the Valorian prefecture. It is connected by regional roads; the local railway line was decommissioned in the late 20th century, leaving bus transport as the main public connection.

Cultural life centers on an annual harvest festival and a local craft fair. Notable landmarks include the Mittala Bridge, the old town hall, and the parish church of Saint Lora. Education and healthcare are provided by a primary school and a small clinic in the town center.
