Misellivedet

Misellivedet, often translated as micellar water, are skin care products that contain micelles. Micelles are microscopic surfactant molecules suspended in water. These molecules have a hydrophilic (water-attracting) head and a lipophilic (oil-attracting) tail. When not in contact with water, the lipophilic tails cluster together, forming a sphere with the hydrophilic heads facing outward. When mixed with water, these spheres disperse.

The primary function of misellivedet is to gently cleanse the skin. When applied to the skin, the micelles attract and encapsulate dirt, oil, makeup, and impurities. The oil-attracting tails bind to the oil-based debris on the skin, while the water-attracting heads allow these impurities to be easily wiped away with a cotton pad. This process allows for effective cleansing without the need for harsh rubbing or rinsing with water, making them suitable for sensitive skin.

Misellivedet are typically formulated to be non-irritating and are often free of alcohol and fragrance, though variations exist. They can be used as a first step in a double cleansing routine or as a standalone cleanser. Their convenience and mildness have contributed to their widespread popularity in the beauty industry. While they effectively remove light makeup and surface impurities, they may not be sufficient for heavy or waterproof makeup, which might require a dedicated makeup remover beforehand.
