Minimumtill

Minimumtill, also known as reduced tillage or conservation tillage, is a farming practice that reduces the amount of soil disturbance from plowing or other tillage operations. Instead of completely turning over the soil before planting, minimumtill methods leave a significant portion of crop residue on the surface. This residue acts as a protective layer, shielding the soil from wind and water erosion.

The primary goals of minimumtill are to improve soil health, conserve soil moisture, and reduce energy consumption associated with farming. By disturbing the soil less, farmers can help maintain soil structure, which promotes better water infiltration and aeration. The increased organic matter from residue decomposition also contributes to a more fertile and resilient soil ecosystem.
