Minffordd

Minffordd is a small hamlet situated in Conwy County Borough in north Wales, approximately three miles north of the town of Llandudno and close to the River Crafnant. The settlement lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park boundary, providing it with a scenic rural setting characterised by rolling farmland, wooded valleys, and proximity to the coast.

The name Minffordd derives from the Welsh words "min" (meaning "hum") and "ffordd" (meaning "road"), suggesting the hamlet’s historic role as a passing point along local travel routes. Historically, the area was part of the ancient Hundred of Bryn-celynd. In the 19th century the arrival of the railway brought modest development, although the rural character has largely persisted.

Minffordd railway station, operated by Transport for Wales, sits on the Borderlands Line linking Wrexham to Bidston. The station maintains a single platform and provides regular passenger services, making the hamlet a convenient point for commuters and tourists exploring the Conwy valley. The surrounding area offers access to walking routes such as the Conwy Valley Walk, as well as nearby sites like Llyn Crafnant and the historic choir house at Plas Dinmur and Dinbych.

The hamlet hosts a few residential properties and small-scale agricultural enterprises, along with a modest community hall that serves as a venue for local events. There are no significant commercial or industrial facilities within Minffordd, but the proximity to larger towns such as Llandudno and Penmaenmawr ensures access to retail and services. Public transport links, notably the railway service, as well as nearby roads, connect residents to the broader Conwy area and beyond.
