Mikrofonstativ

A mikrofonstativ, or microphone stand, is a support device used to hold a microphone in a stable position during recording, broadcasting, or live performances. It provides adjustable height and angle to allow hands-free operation and consistent mic placement, reducing handling noise and improving sound capture.

Most stands fall into three broad categories: desktop or tabletop stands for close-range use on a desk or podium; boom stands, which incorporate a long adjustable arm to position the microphone horizontally or vertically; and floor stands, often with a weighted base or tripod legs for stability in studios or stages. Some stands are designed to be portable and fold for travel.

Key components include the mounting thread, usually 5/8-27 threads on the mic end, with adapters available to 3/8-16 or other sizes; a mic clip or shock mount to attach the microphone; a boom or telescoping arm; a tilt or swivel mechanism; and a base or stand support (weighted base, tripod, or clamp). Materials commonly used are steel, aluminum, and high-strength plastics, chosen for rigidity and low resonance.

Selection depends on mic weight, required reach, stability, and environment. For studio use, heavy bases and solid tripods are common; for field or desk setups, lighter desktop or boom stands with locking clamps are preferred. Regular maintenance includes checking fasteners, keeping joints clean, and avoiding overtightening.
