Migrænesmerte

Migrænesmerte, or migraine pain, is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent episodes of moderate to severe headache, often accompanied by a range of other symptoms. The pain is typically unilateral, meaning it affects one side of the head, and is often described as throbbing or pulsating. Migraine attacks can last from a few hours to several days and can be severely debilitating, interfering with daily activities.

In addition to headache, individuals experiencing migraine may also suffer from nausea, vomiting, and increased sensitivity to light (photophobia) and sound (phonophobia). Some people experience an aura before the headache phase, which can include visual disturbances such as flashing lights, blind spots, or zigzag lines, as well as sensory changes like tingling or numbness, or speech difficulties. The exact cause of migraine is not fully understood but is believed to involve a complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors, affecting brain activity and blood vessel function. Triggers can vary widely among individuals and may include stress, certain foods, hormonal changes, and changes in sleep patterns. Treatment aims to relieve pain during an attack and prevent future episodes.
