Migriin

Migriin is a fictional city-state and major port in the northern coast of Euradia, a political region in the fantasy world of Elarion. It serves as a commercial hub and cultural center.

The name is believed to derive from the local language, meaning 'bright harbor'.

Originally a fishing village, it grew as a trading outpost in the late medieval period. After a treaty in 1640 it gained semi-autonomous status within the Euradian leagues; in the subsequent centuries it expanded its harbor and shipyards.

Migriin is governed by a council of twelve elected delegates and a mayor who serves as the head of government. The legal system combines civil law with customary maritime codes; courts handle trade disputes with specialized maritime chambers.

Situated at the mouth of the Migriin River, the harbor is protected by a stone breakwater and is linked by a network of canals within the old town. The climate is temperate, with wet winters. Its economy centers on shipping, shipbuilding, timber, and textiles; it acts as a regional re-export hub for goods entering Euradia.

The population is multilingual, with Lugari and Euradian being common. Notable landmarks include the Great Entente Docks, the University of Migriin (founded 1763), and the Festival of the Tide. The city is known for its mercantile architecture and seafood cuisine.
