Microservos

Microservos are small electric motors used for precise angular positioning. They are commonly found in robotics, radio-controlled vehicles, and other applications where a small, controlled rotational movement is required. Unlike continuous rotation servos, microservos have a limited range of motion, typically around 180 degrees, which is controlled by a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal. The width of the pulse determines the position of the servo horn, allowing for fine-tuned adjustments.

The core components of a microservo include a DC motor, a gear train, a position feedback sensor (usually a potentiometer), and control circuitry. The control circuitry interprets the incoming PWM signal and drives the DC motor until the feedback sensor indicates that the desired position has been reached. This closed-loop system ensures accurate and stable positioning.

Microservos are popular due to their small size, low weight, and ease of integration into projects. They are powered by a low voltage, typically 3 to 6 volts, and draw relatively little current. Their affordability also makes them an attractive choice for hobbyists and educational purposes. When selecting a microservo, factors such as torque (the rotational force it can exert), speed (how quickly it can move), and accuracy are important considerations depending on the specific application requirements.
