Microrealism

Microrealism is a contemporary art movement that emerged in the late 20th century, primarily in the United States. It is characterized by its focus on the minute details of everyday objects and environments, often depicted in a highly realistic manner. The term "microrealism" was coined by art critic Jerry Saltz in 1996 to describe the work of artists such as Cindy Sherman, Barbara Kruger, and Richard Prince, who were known for their hyper-realistic depictions of consumer culture and popular media.

Microrealism is often associated with the concept of "hyperreality," a term coined by Jean Baudrillard to describe the blurring of the line between reality and representation in contemporary society. Microrealist artists often use photography, video, and digital media to create their works, which often feature highly detailed and realistic depictions of everyday objects, such as clothing, food, and consumer products.
