Metodistide

Metodistide is a term sometimes used, particularly in older or less formal contexts, to refer to Methodists. Methodism is a Protestant Christian denomination that originated in the 18th century with the teachings of John Wesley, Charles Wesley, and George Whitefield. They emphasized a disciplined approach to faith, hence the name "Methodist," which was initially a derogatory term used to describe their methodical way of studying the Bible, praying, and living out their Christian beliefs.

The Methodist movement grew rapidly, initially as a revival within the Church of England and later as a separate denomination. Key tenets of Methodism include the importance of personal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the doctrine of prevenient grace (God's grace that precedes human response), and the belief in sanctification, a process of growing in holiness. Methodists also have a strong tradition of social action and have been involved in various charitable and reform movements throughout history. The United Methodist Church is one of the largest Methodist denominations today, but there are many other Methodist traditions worldwide. The use of "metodistide" is generally considered informal and not the standard way to refer to adherents of this faith.
