Metalstøbeproces

Metalstøbeproces, or metal casting, is a manufacturing process where molten metal is poured into a mold, allowed to cool and solidify, and then removed from the mold. This ancient technique is used to create a wide variety of metal objects, from intricate artistic pieces to large industrial components. The process begins with the creation of a mold, which can be made from various materials like sand, ceramic, or metal, depending on the desired precision, durability, and the type of metal being cast.

Once the mold is prepared, metal is heated to its melting point in a furnace. The molten metal is then carefully poured or injected into the mold cavity. As the metal cools, it takes on the shape of the mold. After solidification, the casting is removed from the mold, and any excess material, such as sprues or gates, is trimmed away. Further finishing processes like machining, polishing, or heat treatment may be applied to achieve the final desired properties and surface finish. Different types of casting processes exist, including sand casting, die casting, investment casting, and centrifugal casting, each suited for different applications and material properties. The choice of process depends on factors such as the complexity of the part, the required tolerances, the production volume, and the properties of the metal being used.
