Metallmaatriksid, often translated as metal matrices, refer to the continuous phase in a metal matrix composite material. This phase is typically a metal or alloy, such as aluminum, magnesium, titanium, or copper, that surrounds and binds together reinforcing elements. These reinforcing elements can be in various forms, including fibers (e.g., carbon, silicon carbide), particles (e.g., silicon carbide, alumina), or whiskers.
